EGG PROTECTOR

Ohh.. Egg Protector.... Is I a robot...??? or a machine...??? or a fighter...???...hah hah haaaa😁😁😁Confused..??? Nothing to confused. I'll tell about it...

In the last week PPD session Sarasi madam gave us an interesting team work named 'EGG PROTECTOR  🥚'.

At first we were divided into 3 groups by madam. Our team members were,     

• Isuru
• Prasanth
• Hirushka
• Sahani(Me)  

                                     

  

Madam gave things for each groups.

Provided things-

• 5 A4 sheets
• 2 Green stickey
• Cello-tape
• Egg

Madam told us to make egg protector to save egg when it throw from top. As well as she told that we have to use engineering little bit to make the protector and she want to touch the shield after throwing it.

Other two groups got the right information about it. But  our team failed to get right information. It was a communication error. We made a beautiful and cute egg bunny by wrapping it with cello tape and an egg holder. But Sarasi madam told again and again that she'll throw it and after that she'll touch the shield.

Every groups done with making egg protector.

 Madam told to hand over all egg protectors. Then the problem was to find a place to throw those egg protectors.  We went to some places and finally we found a stool and madam told our tallest boy Tedy to throw them by standing on that stool.

Results-

• One of eggs was cracked when removing the cello tape
• Our egg was totally broke.
• The egg of other team was protected. They were the winners.

Our Success-

• Madam told us to make a egg protector by using engineering bit. But we made a egg holder by using little bit of engineering.😂😂😂
• And it was best plan to absorb the vibration when it touch the floor.

Our Failures- 

• Didn't get the right information.(It was a communication error)

However the activity was really fun activity and it taught us many lessons like,

if you want to success as a team-

• Get right information
• Plan with ideas of all members
• team work
• For this activity, use bit of engineering knowledge

GAMES WITH CHALLENGE🙌

LIFE is meaningless without challenges. So, in the PPD session everyday we face various kind of challenges. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. But at every times we learn many ways to win the life.

In the last session Sarasi madam gave us two new games called  'lava river ' and ' stand on the paper'.

LAVA RIVER

All student on that day divided into three groups. One group had seven students and other both groups had eight students. For each group madam gave four card board plates. She marked some distance as the river on the stage. We imagined that is the lava river and started the game.

💪Challenge -

  

   Every member of the team must overseas the lava river without losing the cards. When a card is free from human touch madam take that one.

As the first round Sarasi madam told us to overseas one by one in the team. But the team of seven members lost their all card s.

As the another round madam gave us challenge to overseas the river with all the team members at once. the team of sangeevan won that game.

😕Reasons for failures -

• Didn't have plan how to overseas with possible idea.
• Didn't have proper time management.
• Didn't have team spirit.

  

Advantages -

• Learn the advantages of work as a team
• learn how to face challenges of life

Knew -

• We must think different than others if we want the cup of victory.
• Work as a team is always better than work alone.

STANDING ON THE PAPER

The other game that we done in the last session is ' standing on the paper '.

Sarasi madam divided all students into three groups and gave a middle size paper to each group. She told team to stand on that paper with all members of the team.

💪Challenge -

  The challenge was to stand each members of the group on that paper without putting the feet outside of the paper. Every one of the team must stand only on the paper.

As first round madam told each group to stand on the paper. Every group did it nicely. Then madam told to bend the paper to half of it and stand on that like before.  After standing, as the third round madam told us to bend the paper and stand on that again.

But any group of the all three groups could't do that.

😕Reasons for failures -

• Didn't had proper plan about how everyone stand on the paper.

Knew -

• Do every thing with proper and possible plan, then we can face and win challenges
• Howto get decisions as soon as possible.
• How to communicate with team members.
• listen to others.

On that PPD session day, we took lot of things to our lives and knew we must have proper plan about what we do and then we can win our life....👍👍👍

          

            UNIVERSITY OF KELANIYA

University of Kelaniya is one of state universities of Sri Lanka  located in city of kelaniya.

LOGO-

University of Kelaniya established in 1875 as Vidyalankara Pirivena by Rathmalane Sri Dhammaloka Thero.  It became University of Kelaniya in 1978. 

There are 7 faculties in the University. Those are

1. Faculty of Science
2. Faculty of Huminity
3. Faculty of Social Science
4. Faculty of Medicine
5. Faculty of commerce and management
6. Faculty of Graduate Studies
7. Faculty of Computing and Technology

As well as there are lot of places in the university.

Faculty of Science

            The faculty started in 1967 with Prof.Charles Dahanayake as the Dean of the faculty. The faculty award B.Sc Degrees. When we enter the faculty we can see  the main building called LOBIYA. Then main ground, IT center, Dharmaloka Hall and Auditorium.

There are 8 departments in the faculty.

1. Department of Botany           
2. Department of Chemistry    
3. Department of Industrial Management
4. Department of Mathematics
5. Department of Microbiology
6. Department of Physics
7. Department of Statistics and Computer Science
8. Department of  Zoology and Environmental Management

Faculty of Commerce and Management   

         There are 5 departments in the faculty. Those are,

1. Department of Commerce
2. Department of Accountancy
3. Department of Marketing Management
4. Department of Human Resource Management
5. Department of Finance

 BCOM degree is unique to Department of  Commerce.

Dharmaloka Hall

 Dharmaloka Hall is the main hall of the University of Kelaniya. Many students can sit at once in the hall. Stage Dramas, musical shows, as well as various shows show in there.

Library

The library has moved to the present building in 1977. It is open to everyone in the university. Now there are thousands of books in the library. Anyone can refer books. As well as there are past papers for every subjects for every courses of previous years in the library.

Medical center

Medical Center is an important place of the university. There are a lot of qualified and professional doctors to help students and others when they get various illnesses. If they  cannot help they send them to the nearest hospital as soon as possible. Doctors and others in the Medical Center always ready to give their services.  And it is open from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm.

What I learnt from PPD

 PPD , Personal Progress Development is everything what we are doing...

In the PPD session in university, we do various activities individually and with groups.

Tasks:-

     

     Individually:

• Self introduction in 4 minutes
• Tell about a Challenge I faced

    With groups:

• Lift a tube with one finger for the height u can
• Sit on each others lap
• paper tower
• Ice braking activity( continue a story )
• perform new culture

We did all those activities with friends in PPD session and we learnt a lot of thing from PPD.

We learnt how to talk in front of other without fear and shy as well as how we improve our abilities. We were able to improve English. And  we learnt how to work with a team. And we learnt what are our successes and failures. We knew how to give our spirit to group in right time,how we connect with others, as well as how we perform as professionals in the industry. And get a lot of fun.

VANISHED MY SHYNESS-

          I was very shy to talk in front of others, I always went backward when someone told me to give my opinion. But no i have no fear to talk in front of others.

 COMMUNICATION-

        I always liked to listen to other, never say what I think about them. But when I work with team I used to communicate with others.

IMPROVED ENGLISH-

        In the PPD session mrs.Sarasi always tell us to use English to communicate with others. 

         So, it helped to improve my English Knowledge.

And other thing is we get a lot of fun when working with other friends. Always we argue, fought, and again laughed. When we doing PPD works our mind got relaxed. So, PPD lessons helped us to live happily and live as we want.

PAPER TOWER....🗼

This is something we have done in PPD session outside the lecture hall with friends.

Task-
       make the highest, stable and creative paper tower.

Resources-
      12 A4 sheets with black arrow mark
      Scissor
      Cello-tape

Our lecturer Mrs.Sarasi grouped us for 3 groups and gave sheets, scissors and cello-tapes for each group. Our group is 3.

Group members-
      Isuru                          
      Rajitha
      Chamod
      Kumuditha
      Heshani
      Shermila
      Sahani

   

Time period-
     45 minutes


Rajitha leaded the team.First we planned the basement. We thought many things but Isuru gave the best idea. because he is always with tons of ideas. We used 6 papers for the basement. We rolled them and fixed them with cello-tape.
We satisfied about basement.Next we have to think about height. But we had only 6 papers. So we rolled 2 full sheets and tore other 4 papers. We rolled them and made the height.

Successes-
     Our paper tower was the highest one.

Failures-
     Our paper tower was not stable one and not very creative.

End of the session Mrs.Sarasi told us our successes and failures.
As a team,,,,

• We did not think about time management. We spent much time to plan the basement.
• Did not use all paper we got.
• Did not think about creativity

After the session we learnt a lot of things. We learnt,,,,

• Must have plan and strategy for any work, if you want to success.
• Must have team spirit and give your best to team if you work with a team.

After all it was a fun activity..

What is PPD....???

We are very busy to make a perfect life and live. But this life is very complicated. So we must take our life through the right path. PPD is important for that.

What's PPD. It's personal progress development. PPD is centered you and helps you to improve you.

When I came to know about PPD ( Personal Progress Development) , I realized PPD is everything what we are doing. It helps me to develop my strength and personal understandings.

In PPD lessons in the university, we get chances to speak about some topics in front of the batch mates, some pair discussions, group discussions as well as various team works. We do various activities. In the first day lesson we got chance to introduce about our selves in front of the batch mates. It helped us to improve our speaking ability and helped us to forget our fear and shyness.
Sometimes we worked as a team. We knew what's team spirit and those works helped us to improve us communication skills.

So. PPD lessons not only gives fun and happiness, but also helps us to improve our soft skills. As well as we can know..,

• What are our abilities?
• How to work as a team?
• How to be a good leader?
• How to be a helpful member?
• How to face challenges as a team and as a single person?
• How to make decisions as a team and as a single person?
• How to solve problems?
• How to be creative?

One day we will become professionals. So, Personal Progress Development is important for that. So, develop your abilities and believe your self.
